Meet Annemieke, location assistant in Utrecht

Annemieke

“Within ADHDcentraal there are many innovations, patients and staff are listened to and really acted upon. “

Can you explain what your position is and what you do like?

I have been working as a site assistant at ADHDcentraal in Utrecht for almost six years. Here I have already experienced all kinds of things. There are many innovations within ADHDcentraal, patients and staff are listened to and really acted upon. So I have already experienced many changes here.

My work is twofold. I spend one day at the front desk and one day in the back. Then I do the administration. Actually, the place is like a living room where everyone comes by. And I am the questioner. You name it, I do it sometimes. But nothing medically substantive. The best part is that you work in a team. You can’t do without each other; it’s a well-oiled machine. If one link is missing, we have to puzzle, but fortunately that always works out as well.

Why did you choose to work at ADHDcentraal?

In my area, I know quite a few people with ADHD, and I think it’s important to help people. At ADHDcentraal, I feel that we really help people move forward. Patients who have been here are often very grateful; they can move on again!

And the atmosphere here is always good. We have an ADHD day, then we do workshops on innovations, for example. And then a nice dinner together!

Do you have an example of a situation where you felt you could really make a difference for the patients of ADHDcentraal?

We sometimes get cards or emails from patients who are very happy with the help they have had here. Things are falling into place for our patients. Of course, it’s nice if they let us know. There are also patients who leave a nice comment in our guestbook. That’s the reason I came to work here, though. Patients come with a request for help and we try to help as best we can. We can really make a difference in the lives of these people. That’s what I do it for!

What do you get the most energy from in your work at ADHDcentraal?

Working together and the good atmosphere is the most important thing to me. We have a very nice team, we are there for each other in good times and bad. The most enjoyable part of my job is interacting with the patients. When everyone goes home happy at the end of the day, we as colleagues also often say to each other: great job!

What would you give people who want to apply for a job at ADHDcentraal?

People just need to stop by our locations. A job posting sometimes seems very far away, but when you’re here you understand it immediately. We are very approachable, so just come check out our location!
