Our treatment
Fortunately, ADHD can often be treated effectively. Treatment may include a combination of Psycho-education, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) andmedication which we put to the best use together. Psychoeducation helps you understand what happens with ADHD and what treatment will do to you. CBT focuses on addressing behavioral patterns and practical skills with a focus on core ADHD symptoms. The medication can reduce symptoms, making you feel calmer and better able to concentrate. The goals will be coordinated with you depending on your individual needs and request for help.
Treatment at ADHDcentraal is possible in two languages, Dutch and English. The treatment teams are the same at each location.
Our treatment team consists of:
Nursing specialist
When you enter treatment at ADHDcentraal, the nurse specialist is the directing clinician and your point of contact. The nurse specialist will conduct the intake interview. During this interview you will look at your symptoms together and determine what you would like to achieve with ADHDcentraal treatment. You will also regularly evaluate with the nurse specialist how the treatment is going and whether your goals are being achieved. If applicable, the nurse specialist can put you on medication.
Psychologist
During the diagnostic day, the psychologist will take the diagnostic interview from you. This interview looks at characteristics of ADHD in childhood and adulthood. In the treatment phase, the psychologist offers cognitive behavioral therapy.
Psychiatrist
During the diagnosis day and in the treatment phase, the psychiatrist pays attention to any additional symptoms in addition to the ADHD symptoms.
Psycho-education
In Psycho-education, you will receive clear information about the onset and course of ADHD symptoms, the impact of the symptoms on your functioning and what treatment options are available.

What do we do, what don’t we do?
ADHDcentraal is a knowledge and treatment center in the field of ADHD. ADHDcentraal provides careful, specialized medical diagnostics and treatment in adults. The diagnostic day at ADHDcentral includes tests and components that allow for treatment tailored to the individual. Therefore, we can only accept people who have also completed the diagnostic day with us.
ADHD is often accompanied by other psychological problems such as mood problems, anxiety symptoms, substance use, sleep problems, negative self-image, fear of failure and personality problems. Our treatment focuses primarily on ADHD in adults. Often other symptoms decrease in severity when ADHD is adequately treated. We treat other mental health problems with them unless they appear to be so severe that they are on the forefront, require specialist help, need to be able to provide 24-hour care or have a clinic behind them. Treatment elsewhere is then desirable.
